Most of us don't think about estate planning, or the need for a will until something unexpected happens. Maybe a loved one passes, one becomes ill, or you realize that you are not immortal.
Estate planning, and wills are simply a way for an individual to have a plan to manage their financial situation in the event of their incapacitation or death. The planning includes how assets will be divided amongst heirs and the settling of possible taxes, and/or debts. Also, common topics are the guardianship of minors, trusts, how property is divided, and who is going to care for your pets.
Without a will your heirs can be left to a lengthy, and often times difficult probate process.
